Tired of being the good guy on TV, want to play negative roles now: Krishna Bharadwaj
Krishna Bharadwaj
Krishna Bharadwaj has ruled the hearts of telly audiences as Tenali of the show
Tenali Rama
for almost four years. Even though he started his journey with
Jasuben Jayantilaal Joshi Ki Joint Family
, it was this show that gave him recognition and fame. With his role in
Chal Mann Jeetva Jaiye
, he made his debut in the Gujarati film industry in 2017. Krishna has become popular with the positive roles he has essayed and what works for him is the boy-next-door image he carries.
This actor, who loves to have an element of simplicity in his life, is absolutely happy about the way his career has shaped up so far. As he shoots in the city for the sequel of the film, he still complains about not getting the chance to explore Ahmedabad. Excerpts from a chat:
'GUJARATI FILMS ARE IN AN EXCITING PHASE OF LOOKING AT NEW NARRATIVES’
When I did Chal Mann Jeetva Jaiye, I was in absolute awe of the content and the way the content was treated. I watched a few Gujarati films during the lockdown and I was impressed with the treatment and content in films like Chaal Jeevi Laiye, Wrong Side Raju but then after watching Hellaro, I was absolutely elated. I felt proud to be a part of Gujarati films with this one film. Currently as I am shooting for the sequel of Chal Mann Jeetva Jaiye, it is another proud feeling because of the way the concept has progressed. It is good to see Gujarati films scaling new heights whether it is in terms of content, budget or even reach. This is definitely an exciting phase to be a part of this film industry.
'AM TIRED OF DOING ONLY GOOD BOY ROLES ON TELEVISION'
Ever since my debut show, I have only portrayed the roles of a good boy. I am almost tired of playing a nice person on TV. I want someone to offer me a negative character. I am interested in doing something different that is not even remotely 'good'! Bahot ho gaya achcha aadmi wale roles. I was really happy for the four years of Tenali Rama because even though I essayed a good person, there was humour, satire and a light-hearted treatment which kept me engrossed. But now, I want to do something different.

'AM A SIMPLE PERSON AT HEART'

In real life, I am away from the world of glamour and spotlight. I prefer to keep simplicity as the core element of my life. In Mumbai, I live in a middle-class locality and I am not really interested in adding the trappings of a luxurious life. I don’t have a car and I haven’t even splurged on interior decoration. On TV, even if I might be essaying the role of a biz tycoon, off screen I prefer to keep it simple. I don't have any big material desires, but I have started to love travelling. But I keep it as basic as possible.
'OTT HAS CHANGED THE FACE OF STORY-TELLING’
OTT has changed the entertainment landscape as it is offering different kinds of content and has brought so many actors back in action with exciting work opportunities. I am waiting for an interesting opportunity on this platform as well. The best part about OTT is that it has blurred the lines between regional content and Hindi content. Language is no longer a barrier in telling a good story. Audiences are happy to push the envelope and explore content in any language. Even regional films are now reaching out to global audiences.
‘YET TO EXPLORE AHMEDABAD'
I have visited Ahmedabad many times for promotions. But I have never got a chance to visit the heritage sites of the city. I have heard so much about the heritage walk in the Walled City. I hope after this schedule of the film, I get a chance to go for the walk. We are right now at Sanand and I have a very hectic schedule.
