KANPUR: Three
Blackbucks have died in Etawah
Lion Safari in the past one week.
Though the Safari administration is treating the deaths as natural, sources claimed that the blackbucks died due to the attack by some wild animal, probably a leopard in the
Antelope Safari of
Etawah Lion Safari.
The autopsy of the blackbucks has been conducted. The report has stated their cause of their death was internal injury due to fighting and septicaemia.
Meanwhile, an alert has been sounded by the safari administration in view of the death of the three blackbucks.
Surveillance measures have been enhanced at the antelope safari. Night vision cameras and advanced devices have been installed and round the clock patrolling is being done by the staff.
This is probably the first time that blackbucks died in the Antelope Safari. Hunting of blackbuck is prohibited under Schedule I of the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972.
Director of Etawah Lion Safari, SN Mishra, on Friday told media persons that three blackbucks had died in the Safari’s Antelope Safari in the past few days.
“Their autopsy has been done. Going by its report, the death of blackbucks is natural. Extra surveillance is being done. The possibility of a leopard or a wild cat in the safari cannot be ruled out. However, no symptoms have been found yet,” said Mishra further.
