PATNA: The Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) on Saturday raided the residential premises of block supply officer (BSO)
Santosh Kumar and unearthed disproportionate assets (DA) worth more than Rs 2.4 crore amassed by him.
Santosh is posted at Musahri block in Muzafarrpur district.
The vigilance sleuths found Rs 13.7 lakh in cash, diamond jewellery worth more than Rs 13 lakh, 1kg of gold jewellery, 1.25 kg of silver jewellery, bank fixed deposits, eight LIC policies of Rs 25 lakh in the name of his family members and other investments worth Rs 9.8 lakh.
Besides, the tainted officer has deposited Rs 37 lakh in the PPF account of his wife
Mamta in Muzaffarpur. Documents of immovable properties worth Rs 2.6 crore in Gurugram, Delhi and
Greater Noida, apart from Patna, Hajipur, Saran and
Muzaffarpur were also seized.
DA accused owns 4-storey buildingApart from immovable assets, Santosh's wife also has movable assets worth Rs 59 lakh whereas the accused himself has movable assets worth more than Rs80 lakh. The seized documents revealed that Santosh amassed his property in his wife's name.
In the course of search, it was found that in addition to the movable and immovable properties mentioned in the FIR, Santosh has built a four-storey luxurious house in Buddha Colony at Adalwari under Hajipur Sadar police station area where his family members reside.
Two separate vigilance teams conducted the raids in Hajipur and Muzaffarpur after lodging a case against Santosh under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and procuring search warrants from the special judge, vigilance, Patna on Friday evening. The vigilance teams were led by DSPs Kanhaiya Lal and Rajeev Kumar.
