PATNA: A woman set herself and her son and daughter ablaze after a fight with her husband at Gop Tola of ward number 9 under Kanti police station area in Muzaffarpur district on Saturday, SSP Jayant Kant told TOI. They succumbed to their injuries during treatment at Shri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH).
The deceased were identified as Uma Shankar Sah’s wife Ruby Devi (25) and their four-year-old son Vishal Kumar and daughter Tanya Kumari (3).

“Preliminary investigation revealed that Ruby had a fight with her husband on Saturday morning and she was depressed. When her husband left, she opened the LPG cylinder knob and set herself and kids ablaze. We have been investigating the case from all angles. The statements of the family members will be recorded,” the SSP said.
Sah’s brother Mintu Kumar, who came to rescue them, also sustained burn injuries and was undergoing treatment at the hospital. While Ruby and her daughter died during the treatment, Vishal was declared brought dead.
Three fire tenders were deployed to douse the flames. Police said they received information about the incident at 10am from the locals, who said a gas cylinder blasted in a house and caused fire. “The injured were taken to the SKMCH, where three of them died while one is undergoing treatment,” Kanti SHO Sanjay Kumar said.
