BELLEVUE IS CLOSING ITS DOORS AFTER SIX DECADES AS KATV NEWS. WATCH 7’S JON GAHILMORE REPORTS. THE OWNER SAYS AS HEART OF A DECISION AS IT IS IT’S TIME. BEEVLL FLORIST HAS BEEN HERE SINCE 1953 AFTER 69 YEARS FEAR CLOSING UP SHOP I GREW UP HERE. SO I’M VERY ATTACHED TO IT WHEN THEIR LAST DAY OF BUSINESS. OWNERICK’S LEGO AND HIS WIFE ARE PUSHING OUT THE FINAL ORDERS. SO I WORK TO DO LLTI WE CLOSE THE DOOR WITHOUT DELIVER IS TO MAKE SLAGLE TOOK OVER THE BUSINESS FROM HIS PARENTS 40 YEARS AGANO RECALLS OF THE LAST SIX SAYING THE RECENT EVENTS. THINGS INTO PERSPECTIVE THE LAST SIX MONTHS. I THINK I’VE DONE MORE FUNERALS FOR PEOPLE THAT ARE YOUNGER THAN ME THAT ARE OLDER THAN ME. SO I THOUGHT WELL, MAYBE THAT’S AIG SN THAT IT’S TIME TO TIME TO MOVE ON TO SOMETHING ELSE THIS PHOTO SHOWS LEGALS INTRODUCTION INTO THE BUSINESS. HE’SHE T BABY YOU SEE HERE AND AFTER 40 YEARS OF RUNNING IT. HE SAYS IT’S FALINLY TIME TO LOCK THE DOORS AND TRULY LIFT LIFE. THAT’S DIFFICULT. I GREW UP WITH MY I REMEMBER GOING UP TO THE OLD MARKET WITH MY BOOKS AND AND TO THE WHOLESALERS BKAC IN THE 50S AND AND TO THE FLOWER MARKETS AND ETH WHOLESALE FLOWER MARKETS AND AND PICKING UP FLOWERS AND BRINGING THEM BACK AERFT DECADES OF HARD WORK INSIDE. HIS SHOP SLAGLES I LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT CHAPTER. IT’S IT’S BEEN A GOOD LIVING. IT’S BEEN A LOTF OHARD WORK. ANDE' WRE READY TO READY TO RETIRE JONAH GILMORE. The owner says after 40 years of hard work, it's time to really enjoy life

A beloved Bellevue florist is closing its doors after six decades in business.Bellevue Florist has been open since 1953 and after 69 years, they're closing up shop.Owner Ric Slagle says he grew up at the shop and says he's "very attached to it."On their last day of business Slagle and his wife are pushing out the final orders."We still have work to do until we close the door. We still have deliveries to make," Slagle said.The long time business owner took over the shop from his parents 40 years ago. Standing behind the register, he recalls the last six months saying the recent events put things into perspective."The last six months I think I've been to more funerals for people that are younger than me and people that are older than me. So, I thought well maybe that's a sign that it's time to move on to something else," Slagle said.A black and white photo sitting on the counter Slagle stands behind shows his introduction into the business. The photo shows a group of kids standing in Bellevue and he said, it's a photograph of him as a baby with three of his sisters. The photo was taken in 1953, the same year his parents opened the shop. After 40 years of running the place, he said it's finally time to lock the door and truly live life."It's difficult, I grew up with it. I remember going up to the old market with my folks to the wholesalers back in the '50s and to the flower markets and picking up flowers and bringing them back," he said.After decades of hard work, Slagle is looking forward to the next chapter."It's been a good living, a lot of hard work, and we're ready to retire," Slagle said.
