Bhagalpur: Bomb-like object found near temple

BHAGALPUR: Panic prevailed for a while when a bomb-like object was found at the entrance of a banquet hall near Burhanath Temple under Jogsar police station area in the district on Monday. The dog squad was called immediately. However, recovered object turned out to be a bag filled with coloured powder.
The police team carried out thorough search in the surrounding area of the temple.The police team, taking no chance, also sent the recovered powder like substance for chemical analysis at the forensic science laboratory (FSL).
"As per the preliminary investigation, the recovered powder does not appear to be a bomb or explosive substance as it was found wrapped in papers and not in any container (box) or so. The incident seems to be a handiwork of some antisocial elements to create panic in the society and disturb social harmony of the district," said Babu Ram, Bhagalpur SSP.
He added, “Police stations have been asked to identify such antisocial elements in their jurisdictions. We are also taking help of CCTV footages in the locality to identify those who planted the bomb-like object and tried to create panic."
