Bhubaneswar: The satellite centre of
AIIMS Bhubaneswar at
Balasore will become operational from this month. In the first phase, outpatient department (
OPD) services will be provided, later indoor patient department (IPD) facilities will start commissioning.
AIIMS Bhubaneswar director Mukesh Tripathi said this while reviewing the work at the facility on Wednesday. Officials and doctors from the
AIIMS Bhubaneswar were present there.
“ We will start OPD services at this centre. Initially, we will keep some necessary medical equipment like echocardiography and x-ray machines here. If the centre gets a good number of patients that need consultation from doctors of super-specialty departments, then we will send doctors from such departments to this centre. We will also start telemedicine facility at the centre,” said Tripathi.
“OPD services will be inaugurated at the satellite centre very soon. Construction of the OPD building has been completed. Services at the OPD will be available for one or two days a week initially as sufficient number of doctors and staff are yet to join the facility,” said an official of AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
IPD services in the 300-bed hospital may start after two years. Temporary weekly OPD services started at the community centre of Defence Colony in Balasore on July 8, 2017.
