BALANGIR: Ten people, including eight children, an anganwadi worker and helper, were injured in a honey bee attack at Baulsingha anganwadi centre in Boudh district's Kantamal block on Thursday.
The incident took place around 11 am when regular activities were going on in the centre. Fifteen children and two anganwadi staff were present. Some of the children managed to evade the bees by running away.

All the injured were admitted to Subarnapur headquarters hospital. "I visited them. Their condition is stable. All injured will be in the hospital until they completely recover," said Jyotsna Rani Padhi, CDPO, Kantamal. "We have asked anganwadi centres to remove all beehives found close to the centre," Padhi said.
The beehive was present on a tree on the anganwadi centre premises. "Probably someone disturbed the bees and the angry bee attacked every one nearby," said a villager. The anganwadi centres were shut for a long time due to the pandemic providing a favourable environment for growth of beehives.
