Ram Navami Bankura march turns violent

A Ram Navami procession in Bankura’s Machantala turned violent on Sunday evening when police were attacked, injuring three cops. Union minister Subhas Sarkar, who was leading the rally, alleged that brickbats were hurled at his vehicle.

Bankura: A Ram Navami procession in Bankura’s Machantala turned violent on Sunday evening when police were attacked, injuring three cops.
Union minister Subhas Sarkar, who was leading the rally, alleged that brickbats were hurled at his vehicle. He blamed Trinamool Congress miscreants who he said were among the rallyists.
As may as 17 BJP activists were arrested for the violence.
According to sources, the rally also had Bajrang Dal and VHP supporters.
When the rally reached Machantala, one of the busiest places and heart of the town, a police team asked the rallyists to take a different route.
Suddenly, stones started raining on police. Police refused comment.
Trinamool alleged BJP supporters turned violent and threw stones on people and police.
