BAREILLY: A 9-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her 42-year-old neighbour in a village under the limits of
Islamnagar police station in
Budaun district on Saturday evening. The girl was playing outside the house, when the accused, who was apparently in an inebriated state, had offered candies to her to lure her to his house.
After some time, when the girl returned home, she was crying and had injuries in her private parts, said the girl’s father to police.
Soon after finding that his daughter was sexually assaulted, the girl's father informed police and lodged a complaint.
The accused, who runs a department store from his house, was arrested on Sunday morning while he was hiding in a wheat field outside the village. Police have booked him under sections 376ab (rape on a woman below 12 years of age), 504 (intentional insult) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of
IPC and Pocso act.
Budaun’s SSP OP Singh told TOI, “Police acted swiftly after receiving a complaint and arrested, identified as
Ram Bharose, the accused within four hours. The girl was sent for treatment and medical exam. The doctors said that her condition is stable. The accused was sent to jail on Sunday.”
