In a first, Yavatmal completes Covid-free month, region records 3rd 0 of the month

Nagpur: On the day Yavatmal become probably the first district in state to remain Covid-free for more than 30 days, the region didn’t record any new case for the third occasion this month on Saturday. So far, just 44 cases and 54 recovereis have been reported keeping the active case tally at 20.
Subdued virulence of the Omicron variant and a good coverage of second dose of Covid vaccination are stated to be the reason behind the disease remaining under control.None of the 20 active patients is in hospital.
However, the number of districts not having any active case has changed to four including Yavatmal, Wardha, Bhandara and Akola haven’t reported any new case for a while and continue to maintain their Covid-free status. Yet, all of these districts have continued to test a few suspects like other districts. The Covid toll hasn’t increased since last month.
Over 1,400 tests were done in the region on Saturday and none were found positive.
Three recoveries — one each from Nagpur, Amravati and Akola — added to the Vidarbha’s tally during the day.
The active case rate of Vidarbha has fallen down to 0.002% while recovery rate has improved to 98.35%.
