Bihar: Girl loses eyesight in Rohtas acid attack

A girl lost sight in one of her eyes and her brother was also injured in acid attack near a local college at Bikramganj in Rohtas district on Sunday evening. The second eye of the girl, who is an orchestra dancer, was also injured.

SASARAM: A girl lost sight in one of her eyes and her brother was also injured in acid attack near a local college at Bikramganj in Rohtas district on Sunday evening. The second eye of the girl, who is an orchestra dancer, was also injured.
Shilpi Kumari (25) along with her younger brother Akash was on way to Karakat from her native village Dhangai to perform in an orchestra at a marriage ceremony when two bike-borne youths threw acid on them on the Ara-Sasaram state highway.
They were admitted to a private hospital in Bikramganj where the girl is in the ICU.
DSP, Bikramganj, Shashi Bhushan said an FIR was lodged against two unknown bikers, but the reason behind attack was not known yet.
The doctor treating the girl said toilet cleaning acid was used and her face had been badly damaged.
Doctor Kamendra Singh said the girl’s brother, Akash, received minor burn injury on his waist and hand. But the condition of the girl is critical as vital parts of her body have been burnt in the acid attack.
“Senior ophthalmologists have been called to examine her corneas. Her one eye has been completed damaged and there is little chance of plastic surgery on her face in near future,” he said.
