Woman kills minor son, hangs self to death in Mahoba

Kanpur: A woman committed suicide after allegedly killing her minor son in Mahoba district on Wednesday. The police have identified the deceased as Sapna (25) wife of Ravindra Yadav and their son Babu (2), of Ramna locality in Charkhari area of the district.
The police said that they were investigating the matter and trying to find out whether she was being harassed by her husband or in-laws or there was some other reason behind the extreme step.
Inspector Kotwali Umapati Mishra said, “Sapna was alone at home when she strangled her son to death and later hanged herself. Her husband Ravindra, a taxi operator, was out of station, while her in-laws had gone out to work in fields.”
The incident came to light when her husband returned home on Wednesday and raised an alarm. The police, after conducting preliminary investigations, sent the bodies for postmortem examination.
Inspector further said, “Prima facie, the woman first strangled the child and then ended her life by hanging herself from the ceiling. Investigation is being done from all possible angles. The woman’s husband will be questioned to ascertain the cause behind her extreme step.”
