PRAYAGRAJ: The Allahabad high court has taken a serious note of an alleged incident in which a girl, who had entered into an inter-caste marriage and was to appear before the high court, was abducted from a lawyer's chamber in front of the high court just before her court appearance on April 20.
Observing that "it is very surprising and unfortunate that in front of the high court, miscreants abducted the girl from the chamber of the advocate forcefully", Justice Umesh Kumar directed the senior superintendent of police (SSP), Prayagraj and superintendent of police (SP), Jaunpur to look into the matter on a priority and produce the girl before the court on May 17, which is the next date of listing of this case.

The court was given the information of the girl's abduction when it was dealing with the protection plea filed by the girl of Jaunpur district on April 20.
As per the petition, the girl, who is the first petitioner in the case, had recently married a man from the other backward community (OBC) and feared for her life and liberty at the hands of her family members, as they were displeased with her decision to tie the knot with a person of different caste.
Earlier, at the previous hearing on April 8, the family members of the girl had alleged that the man, who is the husband of the girl, had abducted the girl. After this, the court decided to hear the girl's version and ordered her presence before the court on April 20. However, on April 20 the court was informed by the counsel for the petitioners that in connivance with father of the girl, who is respondent number four in the present writ petition, more than 20 miscreants surrounded his chamber today (April 20) itself and forcefully abducted the girl from his chamber.
