Lucknow: The Lucknow bench of Allahabad high Court on Friday restrained the district judge, Pratapgarh from hearing a criminal appeal filed by MLC Akshay Pratap Singh, challenging the judgment and order of March 23, 2022, whereby the magistrate court had convicted and sentenced him to undergo imprisonment for seven years in connection with a case of providing fake address in order to obtain arms licence.

A bench of Justice Suresh Kumar Gupta passed the interim order on a transfer application filed by Akshay seeking transfer of the criminal appeal from the court of district judge to any other court. Passing the interim order, the bench also asked the DJ to provide comments on the transfer plea of Akshay, fixing the next hearing on May 9.
