11 more students at IIT-Madras tested positive for Covid-19. The cluster tally rises to 183; 150 active cases. So far, students from 17 departments across 19 hostels besides quarters, mess and hotels have been tested positive.

Of the 488 active cases, 323 were in Chennai, and its adjoining districts Chengalpet (50), Tiruvallur (15) and Kancheepuram (12) together added 77 active cases.
Coimbatore, Madurai, Tirunelveli and Trichy reported two new cases each while 11 districts Kanyakumari, Karur, Krishnagiri, Namakkal, Nilgiris, Pudukottai, Ranipet, Salem, Thanjavur, Theni and Thiruvannamalai – had one new case each. Twenty of the 38 districts reported no new cases compared to 29 on Wednesday.
Some districts reported new cases after nearly a fortnight.
Chennai (44) continued to report the maximum number of new cases followed by Chengalpet (7), and Tiruvallur (3).
