Union min inaugurates civil works in Namakkal

Namakkal/Erode: Union minister of state information and broadcasting, fisheries, animal husbandry and dairying L Murugan on Monday laid the foundation stone for construction of wells for three beneficiaries at 100% subsidy under the Mahatma Gandhi national rural employment guarantee scheme at Periyathottipatti village near Puduchathram in Namakkal district.
Speaking on the occasion, Murugan said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been working to ensure that the benefits of public welfare schemes reach directly to the people.He also said in order to protect the welfare of the farmers, Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme was being implemented and 6000 per annum was being paid directly into their bank accounts. The minister added that concrete houses are being constructed for the poor under the PM’s housing scheme at a cost of 1.70 lakh per unit in rural areas and free toilets are being provided to all households under the Swachh Bharat campaign.
“During the pandemic, the central government had ensured food security by providing an additional 5 kg of rice under the PM’s Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana,” he added.
Murugan later visited the Aavin unit at Chithode in Erode district on the same day. He also inspected the milk processing facility and the production of milk products including milk khova, butter and milk powder. He also inquired about the procurement of milk from milk producers’ co-operative societies and sales. He subsequently had a discussion with Aavin officials.
Erode district collector H Krishnanunni, milk production and dairy development commissioner G Prakash, Modakkurichi BJP MLA C Saraswathi and other officials were present during the review.
