RAJKOT: Amid a searing heat wave sweeping
Gujarat, several parts of Amreli district reeled under a spell of unseasonal rainfall that was accompanied by hail showers and gusts on Monday.
Weather changed suddenly in Savarkundla and Khambha talukas where sudden downpour left the roads waterlogged.
In Savarkundla taluka, villages like Thordi, Ghanshyam Nagar, Aadsang etc reeled under the wet spell, strong winds and hail.
Similar scenes were witnessed in Khambha taluka where sharp spells of rain lashed Bhaniya, Nanudi, Pipalva and other villages. The coastal Rajula taluka too got a major respite from heat when rain pounded villages like Mota Agariya, Ghudia and Nava Agariya.
Meanwhile, the sudden bout of rain has left farmers worried about the adverse impact on their crops, including mango. Farmers said fruits dropped from a large number of mango trees due to strong winds.
The gusts blew away roofs of kutcha houses in some villages of Savarkundla taluka.
The farmers are currently sowing groundnut, which may get adversely affected by the
unseasonal rain. Monsoon-like scenes were witnessed in some villages like Ghanshyam Nagar as rain water gushed into houses and internal roads got submerged for sometime.
A huge stock of grains lying in the open in the marketing yard also got damaged.
