Govt of Odisha to set up 34 new courts across the state's different districts

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to open 34 additional courts in different districts of the state. The decision was made at a high-level committee meeting on Monday, said the  Law Minister Pratap Jena

The government would issue an official notification in this regard after receiving approval from the High Court.The Committee has given in-principle approval for the establishment of a special vigilance court at Paralakhemundi in Gajapati district, seven additional district and session judge courts in Bhubaneswar (two), Soro and Jaleswar in Balasore district, Chandikhole in Jajpur, Koraput, and R Udayagiri in Gajapati district, according to the Law Minister.

The Committee has also approved the establishment of five civil judge courts, according to Jena (senior divisions). Ranpur in Nayagarh district, Narsinghpur and Badamba in Cuttack district, Sorda in Ganjam district, and Rampur in Sonpur district will all host these events.

In addition, 11 Civil Judge Courts (junior divisions) will be established in Dhenkanal District, Tusra in Balangir District, Soro, Simulia, Bahanaga, and Jaleswar in Balasore District, Chandikhola in Jajpur District, Barkot in Devgarh District, Naugaon in Jagatsinghpur District, and K Nuaga and Khajuripada in Kandhamal District, the Committee has agreed to establish 10 commercial courts in Cuttack Sadar, Bhubaneswar, Puri (two), Balasore Sadar, Balangir Sadar, Kendrapada Sadar, Jeypore, Rourkela, and one leave reserve court in Cuttack Sadar, Bhubaneswar, Puri (two) "he said.

According to the Law Minister, a budget of Rs 21.26 crore has been approved for the establishment of these courts, with Rs 5.20 crore set aside for Additional District and Sessions Courts, Rs 3.60 crore set aside for Civil Judge Courts (Senior Division), Rs 6.16 crore set aside for Civil Judge Courts (Junior Division), and Rs 6.30 crore set aside for Commercial Courts.
