SURAT: The mother of the 18-year-old Navsari girl, whose body was found hanging in train at Valsad on November 4, has revealed about an audio call recording and raised doubts about the suicide theory. In the audio recording stored in the mobile phone of the deceased, the girl is heard claiming that she would join a job the next day.
Her death had turned sensational after the recovery of the girl’s diary in which she mentioned about details of an alleged rape in Vadodara.
The offence was registered in Valsad and during investigation, police found her bicycle in Vadodara.
“In the audio recording, my daughter sounds confident and is calmly asking the woman at the other end if she can join the job a day later. The recording is of November 3 and she was found dead on November 4. How can such a confident girl end her life?” the mother asked.
The mother told TOI that the phone was with the police for investigation but they got it recently. “Since we did not have an extra phone at home, we requested the police to return it. While checking the audio, we found this recording,” she said.
In the audio, the girl is heard explaining to the woman that she did two years of fellowship and had work experience. She told the woman that she handled financial work as well. TOI is in possession of the audio clip.
“There is some connection to Surat and police told us that she had applied for a job in Surat, but they did not find any links to her death. She told us that she was going to Maroli and the next day her body was found in the train at Valsad. Police investigation revealed she had gone to Surat before her death,” the mother claimed.

Meanwhile, police claimed that the phone was sent to FSL and a detailed investigation in the case had been done. “Most of the details related to the case have been investigated. FSL must have recovered the audio,” said B S Jadav, deputy superintendent of police, government railway police, Vadodara. Jadav is a member of the SIT formed to investigate of the case.
Police had earlier claimed that in the medical and forensic examination of the girl’s body, no evidence of rape had been found. Police had also claimed, based on the FSL report, that the girl died due to hanging and it was a suicide.
