CM Nitish Kumar to lay foundation for many smart city projects in Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur

Chief minister Nitish Kumar will inaugurate and lay foundation for several infrastructure-related projects, including smart city schemes, later this month. He will also launch several schemes of the urban development and housing department.

PATNA: Chief minister Nitish Kumar will inaugurate and lay foundation for several infrastructure-related projects, including smart city schemes, later this month. He will also launch several schemes of the urban development and housing department.
A first-of-its-kind underground sewage treatment plant (STP) will be set up at Muzaffarpur with an expenditure of Rs 278 crore.
All the households in the town will be connected with the STP so that treated water is discharged into the Sikanderpur lake directly from household sewage lines. The CM will lay foundation for the STP at Muzaffarpur under smart city scheme. He will also inaugurate the renovated town hall in the town.
Under the smart city project, renovation of Sikanderpur lake in Muzaffarpur will be done on the lines of Adalatganj Talab in Patna. A recreational lake-cum-park with musical fountain, laser and water projection show was redeveloped at an expenditure of Rs 175 crore in Patna. The other attractions at the pond are open air theatre with seating space, fun zone, boating, children’s corner, cycling track, yoga platform, park furniture, pathway, food kiosks, restroom, landscaping and security room.
The foundation for beatification of Jubba Sahni Park will also be laid by the CM. Under the project, a meditation centre will be constructed with solar light panel in the park. The total cost of the project is around Rs 2.83 crore. Besides, three parks in the area-based development scheme will be developed. These parks are City Park, Indira Park and Children Park near DM’s residence in Muzaffarpur.
A night shelter for homeless people and rooftop solar panels in government buildings will be inaugurated in Bhagalpur. Foundation stone will be laid by the CM for five different projects being executed by Bhagalpur Smart City Limited (BSCL), including town hall which will be constructed with an expenditure of Rs 36 crore, modernization and beautification of five schools (Mokshada Girls School, Rajkiye Balika High School,
Jhunjhunwala Balika High School, Intermediate Zila School and Sahu Middle School), streetlights and high mast lights in the town, a G+4 integrated command and control centre (ICCC) building and riverfront at Barari Ghat.
The CM will lay foundation for smart road network in Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur and Biharsharif. The project will entain al expenditure of Rs 200 crore. Nitish will also hand over the keys of houses to 41,000 beneficiaries across the state under the Pradhan Mantri Shahari Awas Yojna.
