Varanasi: Former chief minister and Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhliesh Yadav demanded filing of an FIR under section 302 (murder) of IPC against policemen in the girl’s death in Chandauli and also an inquiry by a high court judge.
The girl was found dead in mysterious circumstances after the police raid at the house of a gangster Kanhaiya Yadav in Manrajpur village of Chandauli district on May 1.

Akhilesh on Tuesday met the victim’s family at the village in Chandauli and expressed his condolences. “We don’t trust the police investigation. There is an allegation against the police and it is not right to get the matter investigated by the police itself,” he said and demanded an inquiry under the supervision of a High Court judge.
He alleged that the girl died due to beating by the police. “I demand an FIR on charges of IPC section 302 against the policemen and they should be sent to jail,” he said.
Akhilesh also went to Varanasi district jail and met the SP workers lodged in the jail under various charges in a case related to EVM in the recent assembly polls. While talking to reporters, he said that the police have no right to manhandle and beat people during a raid.
He accused the state government of discrimination and working on the basis of caste and religion.
“The government is discriminating on basis of caste and religion. Workers who were on ‘roza’ (fast observed in Ramzan) were put in jails. We are with the workers and will provide them all the legal help,” said Akhilesh.
In the Gyanvapi episode, Akhilesh said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) does not want peace and harmony in the society. It does not discuss issues like jobs, unemployment and inflation, he added.
