CSD Sahara, Barabanki shine in U-25 cricket tourney

Lucknow: Barabanki trounced MCA Gorakhpur by 77 runs while CSD Sahara defeated Bahraich Cricket Academy by six wickets on the inaugural day of the Lt Col Sujeet Kumar Niyogi Under-25 state prize money cricket tournament on Monday. Total 16 teams are participating in the tournament. In the first match, Barabanki were all out for 181 runs in 28.2 overs. Satyam scored highest 62 runs.Suraj claimed three scalps while Abhishek and Furkan took two wickets each for MCA Gorakhpur. Chasing the target, Gorakhpur suffered early losses following which the team collapsed like a house of cards scoring 104 in 25.3 overs. Vishal scored highest 44 runs. Parth took three wickets while Kratagya, Shivam and Kuldeep claimed two wickets each. In the second match, Bahraich scored 176 runs in 35.5 overs. Nikhil and Vaibhav contributed 35 and 33 runs, respectively.
In reply, CSD Sahara easily chased the target at loss of four wickets. Earlier, the event was inaugurated by Kumkum Roy Choudhury, Samrat Niyogi and Pukhraj Niyogi of Sahara India.tnn
