On Tuesday, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock paid her first visit to Ukraine since the conflict with Russia began. Baerbock’s first stop was at Bucha, a city just outside the capital where Russian forces are said to have massacred hundreds of civilians.
She expressed her support for war crimes investigations while she was there.
“As an international society, we can make a tiny contribution by assisting this investigation of war crimes and crimes against humanity”; “collecting evidence and ensuring that the culprits are held accountable,” Baerbock said at a church in Bucha. “That is something we owe the victims.”
Baerbock is the most recent foreign dignitary to visit Ukraine in recent days; joining Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and European Council President Charles Michel.
