VIB raids on Supaul DFO yield DA worth crores

The sleuths of vigilance investigation bureau (VIB) on Thursday conducted raids on divisional forest officer (DFO) of Supaul, Sunil Kumar Sharan, and unearthed disproportionate assets (DA) worth Rs 1.22 crore amassed by him.

Patna/ Samstipur: The sleuths of vigilance investigation bureau (VIB) on Thursday conducted raids on divisional forest officer (DFO) of Supaul, Sunil Kumar Sharan, and unearthed disproportionate assets (DA) worth Rs 1.22 crore amassed by him. A special vigilance court, Patna, had issued the search warrant on Thursday, following which the raids were conducted by two separate teams at his office and premises in Supaul and Patna.

In course of raids, a total of 14 passbooks of different banks, Rs 4,12,000 in cash, gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 5,84,000, documents of two flats on his name and wife Sudha Sharan in Pune, two flats and a shop in name of his son and 12 documents related to investment in an insurance company, were recovered. “He has also made an investment of Rs 23,38,000 in different financial schemes,” the officers said. Apart from this, one bigha of land in Barbigha and documents of a plot purchased in Nalanda were also seized, they said.
Teacher shot at: Birju Ram, a teacher at Rajkriyakrit High School, Dharmpur under Samastipur Muffasil police station, was severely injured after he was shot at on Thursday morning. The teacher is a resident of Dadhia Belar village. He was rushed to Samastipur Sadar Hospital for treatment. According to police sources, the teacher was shot at when he reportedly tried to pacify the boys engaged in a brawl at the school.
