PATNA: Four members of a family – a 40-year-old man, his mother and two wives – were charred to death when the first wife of the man allegedly poured kerosene on them after a heated argument with the second wife of her husband at Supaul Bazaar under the Biraul police station area in Darbhanga district around 5am on Saturday.
The victims were identified as Mohd Khurshid Alam (40), his first wife Bibi Parveen (35), second wife Roshni Khatoon and mother Rufaida Khatoon (65).
Parveen and her mother-in-law succumbed to their burn injuries at the Biraul community health centre while Roshni and Khurshid died at Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
Parveen, it is learnt, did not want her husband to live with Roshni or have any kind of relationship with her. Biraul SDPO Manish Chandra Chaudhary said after a heated argument with Roshni, Parveen poured kerosene on herself and other members of the family and lit a fire.
