CM to visit twin cities today

Dharwad: Doubts about chief minister Basavaraj Bommai unveiling the statue of Ulavi Channabasaveshwar near Head Post office in Dharwad stand cleared with the CMO on Saturday confirming that he will do the honours on Sunday. Members of Ulavi Channabasaveshwar Temple Trust, which has organised the programme, were apprehensive about Bommai’s participation in the function following the enforcement of model code of conduct with the announcement of elections to Karnataka legislative council from West Teachers’ constituency.
DC Gurudatt Hegde, who is also the district election officer, on Saturday clarified that the election code does not bar the CM from participating in private functions — Bommai will attend several private functions during his visit to the twin cities on Sunday.
