Vadodara: Sleuths of Godhra local crime branch (LCB) arrested a man for stealing Rs 50,000 from the counter of a shop in Delol village in Kalol taluka of Panchmahal on Sunday.
Ejaz Sheikh, reportedly a BJP worker as he has posted several photos with BJP leaders on social media, is a resident of Yakutpura area in Vadodara. He was arrested on basis of CCTV footage of the shop.

The police said that Sheikh had committed the theft on May 11. Kinjal Shah, owner of the provision store, had registered FIR with the police wherein he said that a customer asked for a packet of snacks kept behind in a cabin. When Shah got up to get the packet and before he turned around, Sheikh quickly opened the drawer and stole Rs 50,000 cash kept in it.
Shah realised later that the cash was missing from the drawer. The entire act of Sheikh was recorded by the CCTV installed in the shop. He initially thought that someone from his locality may have committed the theft and showed the CCTV footage to those staying in the area. When no one recognised the thief, Shah approached the police.
Cops began investigations and got information about Sheikh moving around in the area on his two-wheeler. He was nabbed from a crossroad in Kalol town and the cops recovered the cash from him.
