BEGUSARAI: A BMP assistant sub-inspector (ASI) sustained serious injuries when a police team led by Balia sub-divisional police officer (SDPO)
Kumar Veer Dhirendra was attacked by criminals and anti-social elements at Hira Tol village under Sahebpurkamal police station in Begusarai district on Saturday night. The injured ASI, identified as
Sanjay Kumar Gupta, is undergoing treatment at Begusarai sadar hospital.
The police team, comprising SHOs of Sahebpurkamal and Balia police stations, had gone to raid a house at the village to arrest one Kari Singh, who had allegedly shot at one Sudhir Singh of the neighbouring
Rahua village the same night.

Kumar Singh said Kari along with his accomplices shot at Sudhir, when he was on way to his farmhouse in the village on Saturday night.
On being informed, the police team went to Rahua village and arrested one person who revealed Karl's involvement in the incident.
"When the police team reached Hira Tol village to raid Karl's house, Kari and his associates started pelting stones at the police team from the roof of his house. This resulted in a chaos, wherein a mob of anti-social elements got hold of Sanjay and beat him up," the SDPO told TOI on Sunday.
