Vince Wilfork voted into New England Patriots Hall of Fame

Vince Wilfork voted into New England Patriots Hall of Fame
New England Patriots fans selected Vince Wilfork as the 32nd inductee into the team's Hall of Fame.The former dominant defensive lineman is just the sixth player to be selected for induction by the fans during his first year of eligibility, the team said. "He was a big man with an even bigger personality and a huge heart. He quickly became a fan favorite in New England. I look forward to presenting him his Patriots Hall of Fame jacket," Patriots chairman and CEO Robert Kraft said in a statement. Wilfork, 40, played the first 11 of his 13 NFL seasons (2004-14) with the Patriots since being drafted by New England in the first round (No. 21) of the 2004 draft. He started in the Pats' 2005 Super Bowl win over the Eagles and did the same 10 years later when New England defeated the Seattle Seahawks in the 2015 Super Bowl.While with the Patriots, Wilfork played in 158 games with 148 starts and served as a defensive co-captain for seven straight seasons (2008-14). He earned five Pro Bowl selections (2007, 2009-12) and was named a first-team AP All-Pro in 2012 and a second-team AP All-Pro in 2007, 2010 and 2011. Clogging up the middle at nose tackle, "Big Vince" helped New England's defense finish in the top 10 in points allowed eight times.Wilfork was nominated by a panel, which voted and advanced Wilfork and two other finalists to a public vote. The Patriots said they are the only team to allow fans to make the final decision for the team's Hall of Fame.
