PATNA/SASARAM: Criminals looted around 7.5 lakh from two separate banks in
Sonepur and
Rohtas districts.
Five criminals barged into the
North Bihar Gramin Bank branch at Sonepur in Saran district and looted nearly Rs5.50 lakhat gunpoint, SP Santosh Kumar said. He said the incident took place around 2pm. "Investigation is going on and the criminals will be arrested soon," the SP told TOI over the phone.
In Rohtas, four armed criminals looted Rs2 lakh, three laptops and mobile phones from a Bandhan Bank branch on Ara-Sasaram road at Nokha under the same police station area.
The criminals also thrashed two customers and snatched their bags containing cash. The bank is located hardly half a km away from the local police station.
Sources said the criminals made the three employees and two customers captive at gunpoint and locked them in a room before looting the cash. They also snatched handbags containing cash from the two customers.
A day before, three armed criminals had decamped with cash and ornaments from the residential quarter of a judicial officer at
Bikramganj after making his wife and their child captive.
The district has witnessed above one dozen broad daylight robbery cases in the last one month and police are still clueless in most of the cases. Police have still not solved the Rs20 lakh theft case from an
ATM in Rohtas even after 20 days of the crime.
