Uttar Pradesh: 25 passengers injured after bus falls of bridge in Unnao

As many as 25 people were injured, seven among them critically, after a State Road Transport Corporation bus (SRTC) fell off a bridge on Kanpur-Lucknow highway in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao district in the wee hours of Saturday.

KANPUR: As many as 25 passengers were injured, seven among them critically, after a State Road Transport Corporation bus (SRTC) fell off a bridge on Kanpur-Lucknow highway in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao district in the wee hours of Saturday.
The injured passengers have been admitted to the district hospital.
According to the police, the accident took place at around 2am when the SRTC bus of Kanpur's Azad Nagar depot was heading towards Kanpur from Lucknow.

The driver lost control of the vehicle and it fell off the bridge at Azad Marg intersection.
On being informed, the police rushed to the spot and admitted the injured to the district hospital with the help of ambulances. Few among the critical were referred to Kanpur.
"There was panic and chaos among the passengers. On hearing loud shrieks, locals rushed to the spot and with the help of police, pulled out the stranded passengers from the bus and admitted them to the district hospital with the help of ambulances," the police added.
The passengers alleged that the driver of the vehicle was overspeeding and it caused the mishap.
"After investigation, action will be taken against the driver," said ASP Shashishekahr Singh.
