Tonight's instalment of the programme will see more performers try and impress judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams.

But one familiar face will also make a return to the stage - Manchester-lad John.

Taking to Twitter earlier today, the star said: "Just when you thought I’d finished with BGT 2 years ago… on ya telly box tonight…"

Jon wowed the judges two years ago by performing his own song at the auditions.

He also added a comic element to the routine, as well as sharing his own story about how his late dad had always wanted him to audition for the show.

Ant and Dec loved him so much that they used their Golden Buzzer and sent him straight to the semi-final.

He later performed his own song When I was A Boy and his mum virtually appeared on stage.

In the final highlighted his experiences in lockdown, and it resonated with many viewers and he was crowned winner of the show.

In January 2021 The Sun revealed that Jon was diagnosed with skin cancer just weeks before his TV win.

The comedian, singer and pianist first noticed a mole on the side of his head in January 2020.

It was around the time of his audition, where he was hosts Ant and Dec’s Golden Buzzer choice.

But Jon did not get it checked by a GP until July — and was diagnosed with melanoma just weeks before winning the show.

Speaking about his ordeal — to encourage others to get checked and to donate to Macmillan Cancer Support — he said: “Mentally it was agonising.”

He had the mole removed in August but he was told it was cancerous ahead of the show’s semi-finals.

He recalled: “The doctor’s face was so serious I thought I only had days to live.

“I was being referred to a specialist immediately because there was a strong possibility it had spead to my lymph nodes.”

An operation was booked straight after the show’s final.

Jon kept smiling through on TV but admitted: “I was in so much fear about the future.

"I had panic attacks. But I was grateful to be busy with BGT.”

Jon got the all-clear just before Christmas in 2020 and has since written The Mole Song to help raise cancer awareness.

Britain’s Got Talent continues this Saturday at 8pm on ITV and ITV Hub
