Four members of Chennai family die in road accident near Ariyalur
TRICHY: Four members of a Chennai family, including a 7-year-old girl, died when a car they were travelling in rammed a roadside tree near Ariyalur on Monday.
The deceased have been identified as N Manjula, her son N Karthikeyan, 41, daughter-in-law Lakshmi Priya, 35, and granddaughter Hasini, 7. They hailed from Ponni Colony in Chennai’s Anna Nagar.
The accident happened in the afternoon when the they were returning to Chennai from Thanjavur.
While nearing a bus stop at Sathamangalam in Ariyalur district, the car drifted away from the road and rammed a roadside tamarind tree.
Karthikeyan, Manjula and Lakshmi Priya died on the spot. Locals rescued injured children Mithra, 11, and Hasini, 7 and rushed them in an ambulance to Ariyalur Government Hospital. But Hasini died without responding to treatment.
The Keezhapalur police registered a case.
