Taxi driver shot dead over personal enmity

In a sensational broad daylight murder in Bulandshahr, a 50-year-old taxi driver was gunned down over a personal enmity on Sunday afternoon.

 

As per reports, Salim of Tarinan of Khurja City police station area was heading to lift a passenger when two youths intercepted him on Sunday afternoon. As Salim stopped his taxi to enquire, the miscreants opened indiscriminate fire and escaped. A critically injured Salim was rushed to a nearby hospital by passersby where the doctors pronounced him dead.

 

Senior Superintendent of Police of Bulandshahr, Santosh Kumar Singh, said that the police had arrested prime accused, Shahzad, on Monday morning, while a search was on for his accomplice. He said that Shahzad suspected that Salim had a hand in making a video of him, on the basis of which he was sent to jail in a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. He was released recently.

 

A case was registered and a hunt is underway for the accomplice.

 

Meanwhile in Sitapur, a speeding car rammed into a truck parked on Sitapur-Lucknow highway from behind as a result of which a resident of Pilibhit died while 11 others were injured, on Monday afternoon.

 

The injured were rushed to the community health centre at Sidhauli for treatment. Four seriously injured passengers were later referred to the Trauma Centre of King George’s Medical University in Lucknow.

 

The accident happened on the highway between Sarsauli and Manikpur intersection.

 

As per reports, a truck was parked on the roadside near Sarsauli on Sitapur-Lucknow highway as rains accompanied by a strong storm lashed the area. Meanwhile, a speeding car coming from Lucknow rammed into the truck from behind. As a result, Lokai of Pipariya-Puranpur in Pilibhit died on the spot and 11 other car occupants were seriously injured.

 

The police later rushed the injured to the community health centre at Sidhauli.

 

The injured, who were undergoing treatment at CHC, said that Dharmendra of Kalinagar-Pilibhit had recently got married to Muskan of Chakia Devipura in Bihar. The newlyweds, along with other guests were returning to Pilibhit from Bihar when the tragedy struck. Dharmendra and his bride Muskan were also injured in the accident.

 

Meanwhile in Budaun, two youths from Etah, who had come to immerse the ashes of their kin in the Ganga in Ushait police station area, drowned in the river.

 

Four friends,  Jaidev, Gulshan, Shivam and Abhay Pratap Singh of Khairpur village had come to Ataina Ganga ghat to immerse the ashes on Sunday evening. While immersing the ashes all four were swept away by the strong current.

 

Upon hearing their screams, locals rescued Jaidev and Gulshan, but Abhay Pratap Singh (22) and Shivam (21) had drowned. Later divers extricated their bodies late in the night.
