About gardening

A workshop, “Learn Gardening Skills,” will take place Thursday from 1 to 4  p.m. at the city of Arcata’s Bayside Park Farm, 930 Old Arcata Road.

Participants are asked to arrive 15 minutes before the class start time to sign paperwork as a drop in volunteer. Projects may include planting, weeding and harvesting. No experience is necessary and  families are welcome. Appropriate attire would be closed-toe shoes, long pants, sleeves and a sunhat. Bring a water bottle and snacks and pack out all trash and recyclables.

The farm welcomes people of all ages and abilities, but asked everyone to leave their pets at home. COVID-19 protocols must be followed when visiting Bayside Park Farm.

Drop-in volunteering is for individuals, families or friends in groups of five or fewer. Larger groups should talk to the farmer on-site to ensure extra staff is on hand.
