Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Friday visited the famous Kakolat waterfalls in Nawada district to oversee the beautification work he had ordered during his last visit to the tourist spot in December 2018.
After visiting the place on Friday, Nitish asked forest officials to make arrangement for an escalator for taking tourists and visitors up to the waterfalls from the base.
He said arrangements like eateries, temporary stay house and lavatory should be made at one place.
Nitish also asked the officials to pay special attention on regular cleaning of the place and make necessary arrangements for cleaning of the waters coming through the waterfalls.
The CM asked the forest officials and the Nawada DM (Ms) Udita Singh to take all necessary steps to keep the waterfalls more decorative and attractive.
Nitish had last visited Kakolat waterfall on December 30, 2018. He had then given a series of instructions to the officials of the tourism department and environment, forest and climate change department to boost tourism in the area.
“Last time when I was here, I had given several instructions to officials, right form constructing a stairway to many other things. Recently, it came into my mind to visit the place to oversee whether the work I had instructed earlier had been done or not. Lots of works are yet to be sone. There is no need of shops and eateries running alongside the pathway and the stairway. All shops will be shifted to one place. There would be lavatories for visitors at the same place. The pathway and stairway would be only for movement of visitors. During my last visit, I had also taken views of local people for development of the area. For the last two years, we could not come here due to Covid pandemic,” Nitish said while talking to reporters near Kakolat waterfalls.

Senior officials who accompanied the CM during his Kakolat visit were principal secretaries to the CM Deepak Kumar and S Siddartha, principal secretary (tourism) Santosh Kumar Mall, secretary to the CM Anupam Kumar, IG of Police (Magadh range) Vinay Kumar, Nawada DM Udita Singh, Nalanda DM Shashank Shubhankar and Nawada SP Gaurav Mangala.
