WEST Ham are interested in signing Burnley forward Maxwel Cornet this summer, according to reports.

The Ivory Coast international joined the Clarets from French side Lyon back in August and has become a fan favourite at Turf Moor.

Cornet finished as the club’s top-scorer this season - scoring nine goals in 27 league appearances, most recently in the 2-1 defeat against Newcastle on the final day.

However, the versatile attacker reportedly has a £17.5million release clause following Burnley’s relegation from the top-flight.

And West Ham boss David Moyes is monitoring the situation, according to The Telegraph.

The report also claims the Hammers are looking at Watford forward Emmanuel Dennis as they aim to bolster their attack before the new season gets underway.

Everton are also said to be interested in signing Cornet after surviving relegation and preserving their Premier League status.

The 25-year-old is one of several players expected to leave Turf Moor this summer, with the likes of James Tarkowski and Nick Pope also linked with moves elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Wout Weghorst has been called up for the Netherlands’ upcoming Nations League fixtures.

Louis van Gaal’s side have matches coming up against Belguim, Wales – who they play twice in quick succession – and Poland.

Bailey Peacock-Farrell, who spent the season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, has also been called up to the Northern Ireland squad.
