VARANASI: Ballia police arrested four miscreants late night on Tuesday for killing a man and his two sons at Sonvani village under Haldi police station in Ballia.
SP Ballia Rajkaran Nayyar said the killers Pravin Singh, Manvendra Pratap Singh, Aman Singh and Sanjit Singh of the same village were arrested within eight hours of the killing of Sandeep Singh (45), his brother Anand Vikram Singh (26) and their father Umashankar Singh (70).
Police have recovered the knife used in the triple murder, blood-stained clothes and the mobile phone of Sandeep from the accused, the SP added.
During interrogation, Pravin revealed that he had an old monetary dispute with Sandeep. He added he and his accomplices had a quarrel with Sandeep over the same dispute and they stabbed him to death. Pravin told police that when they were going to dump Sandeep’s body in a well 200 metres away from his home, Umashankar and Anand saw them and tried to raise an alarm following which they also killed them.
Earlier, on Tuesday morning, the villagers noticed marks of blood on a land leading to an orchard. The villagers followed the blood marks to the well in the orchard. On removing the concrete cover of the well, they spotted the body of Anand lying inside.
On being informed, the Haldi police reached the spot. When nobody from Anand’s family came for identification of the body, police went to his home and found the body of Umashankar lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen.
Haldi police alerted seniors officials after which DIG Azamgarh Akhilesh Kumar and SP Ballia arrived along with forensic experts. The killers then further confessed of having killed Sandeep and dumped his body in another well. The body of Sandeep was also recovered.
Umashankar had three sons, Anand, Sandeep and Dilip, who lives in the city. Few days ago, Dilip had come to see the construction of their home but had returned following some dispute with his father and brothers.
