    Amazon News Live Updates: Amazon's CEO of Worldwide Consumer to step down after 23 years
    Amazon.com Inc said on Friday the chief executive officer of its worldwide consumer business, David Clark, was leaving the company after 23 years of service to pursue other opportunities.
    Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said he expects to be ready with an update on Clark's succession over the next few weeks. Clark's last day in office would be July 1.
    Clark, who joined Amazon in 1999 right after graduating from his MBA program, has led teams that designed fulfillment centers and transportation networks.
    He became the CEO of Worldwide Consumer, a unit that handles Amazon's global websites, in January last year when the company's e-commerce sales surged during the pandemic.
    Clark's departure is the second high-profile exit this week after Meta Platforms Inc's operations chief, Sheryl Sandberg, announced that she was leaving the company after 14 years.

    'Poor' air quality days increase in Delhi in 2022

    Delhi, between January 1 till May 31, reported the highest number of 'poor' air quality days since 2018 while 'very poor' days were the least for the same duration, data from Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) showed. The CPCB calculates the Air Quality Index (AQI) based on multiple inputs, including the PM2.5 and PM10 pollutants. An AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor'. AQI over 401 is considered 'severe'.

    Myanmar court says Suu Kyi election fraud trial can continue

    A court in Myanmar ruled Friday that state prosecutors have submitted enough evidence for the trial of deposed leader Aung San Suu Kyi on an election fraud charge to continue, a legal official familiar with the case said. The army seized power from Suu Kyi's elected government in February last year, saying there was widespread fraud in the 2020 general election. Its allegation was not corroborated by independent election observers. Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy party won the election by a landslide, while the military-backed Union Solidarity and Development Party suffered huge losses.

    US Secretary of State Antony Blinken claimed on Thursday that there are rising attacks on people at places of worship in India.
    "We have noted the release of the US State Department 2021 Report on International Religious Freedom, and ill-informed comments by senior US officials," External Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said.
    "It is unfortunate that vote bank politics is being practised in international relations. We would urge that assessments based on motivated inputs and biased views be avoided," he added.
    Underlining that India values religious freedom and human rights, Bagchi said India has regularly highlighted issues of concern in the US, including racially and ethnically motivated attacks.

    Mayawati urges Centre to take 'strict action' over recent killings in Kashmir

    Amid recent targetted killings in Jammu and Kashmir, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Friday urged the central government to take strict action against the incidents and people behind such attacks. The BSP chief noted that the recent attacks have created an atmosphere of panic in the region and called it "worrisome".
