Truck driver electrocuted, three houses reduced to ashes in Muzaffarpur

The driver of a truck was burned alive after the vehicle came in contact with a high-tension electricity wire at Rampur Bheriyahi village under Kathaiya police station in Muzaffarpur district on Sunday. Apart from the vehicle, three houses on the roadside were also reduced to ashes in the fire. The people of the nearby houses somehow managed to escape.

PATNA: The driver of a truck was burned alive after the vehicle came in contact with a high-tension electricity wire at Rampur Bheriyahi village under Kathaiya police station in Muzaffarpur district on Sunday. Apart from the vehicle, three houses on the roadside were also reduced to ashes in the fire. The people of the nearby houses somehow managed to escape.
The incident took place around 11.30am when the driver parked his vehicle on the roadside to unload the construction materials.
The vehicle came in contact with the high tension cable, when the driver was sitting inside the truck.
He tried to come out of the vehicle when it caught fire, but he died on the spot due to the impact of electric shock. A video of the incident has also surfaced.
The deceased was identified as Pankaj Kumar (27) of Barka village. His brother Ajay Kumar said that Pankaj came here to unload sand. "As the truck is lifted by a hydraulic system to lower the sand, its rear part got stuck in the high tension wire and due to this he got electrocuted," a police official said.
On receiving the information, the team of fire brigade and the police reached there.
"Two fire tenders were pressed to douse the blaze. The police recovered the burned body of the deceased and sent it for the post-mortem at SKMCH. The police are investigating the matter," the SHO Rajpat Kumar said.
Two private guards held: Phulwari police arrested two private guards near Phulwarisharif bridge in Patna on late Saturday night. Police also recovered double-barreled gun, 24 bullets and an SUV from them.
The arrested were identified as Rashpal Singh and Jaspal Singh, both residents of Punjab. The SHO Ikrar Ahmed said that the gunlicenses recovered from Jaspal and Rachpal Singh of Amritsar appears to be fake.
