Uttar Pradesh: Minister conducts surprise inspection of Barabanki jail, 4 suspended
LUCKNOW: Four officials of Barabanki jail, including the jail superintendent, were suspended for not serving proper quality food to prisoners on Wednesday. Those suspended include jail superintendent Haribaksh Singh, deputy jailor Ashutosh Mishra and warders Rajesh Bharti, Suresh Kumar.
They were suspended after minister of state (independent) for prisons and home guards Dharamveer Prajapati conducted a surprise inspection of Barabanki prison and checked the quality of food served to the prisoners on Wednesday noon.

Expressing deep displeasure over not being given the proper quality of food as per standard, he ordered action against the officials.
“I will also pay a visit to other jails of the state randomly and inspect the quality of food items served to the prisoners. If we find any substandard serving of food then action would be taken against the jail officials concerned,” he told newsmen.
