Bihar: 8-year-old girl raped, stabbed in Nalanda

Biharsharif: An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped at knifepoint and later stabbed by the rapist in a bid to kill her at a village under Bind police station in Nalanda district on Thursday night. The victim has been admitted to a hospital in Patna where her condition was stated be critical, police said.
“The accused has been identified as Sajan Kumar and an FIR lodged against him.Raids are being conducted to arrest him,” said Sujit Kumar, station house officer (SHO) of Bind police station.
According to police, the minor girl was allegedly abducted at knifepoint by the accused on Thursday night while she was sleeping outside her house. He took her to the nearby maize filed where he first raped and then stabbed the girl in a bid to kill her as she had identified him.
The profusely bleeding rape survivor, anyhow, reached home and narrated her ordeal to the family members. They took her to Biharsharif sadar hospital from where she was referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH).
This is the third incident of rape of minor girls in the district in last 10 days while during the same period, at least two women were killed after their families allegedly failed to fulfil the demand of dowry by their husbands and in-laws.
On Wednesday afternoon, a man identified as Murli Manohar of a village under Katrisarai police station allegedly raped a co-villager's 15-year-old daughter while she was alone at her home.
According to police, her family members had gone to attend a wedding function in the neighbourhood. Taking advantage of this, he entered the house and raped her. The police said her screams were unheard due to high volume of loudspeakers being played in the wedding.
SHO of Katrisarai police station Sharad Kumar Ranjan said raids were being conducted to arrest the culprit.
Similarly, on June 1, an accused identified as Jairam Rajvanshi of a locality under Rajgir police station area, raped 13-year-old friend of his daughter. Police said the accused was alone at his home when the victim had come to meet his daughter. An FIR in this connection was lodged on June 7. The accused is yet to be arrested.
While one Suraj Paswan of Samasti village under Deepnagar police station area allegedly thrashed his pregnant wife Rukmani Devi to death after her parents failed to give him a motorbike as dowry.
