Vidarbha has 200+ active patients, Nagpur accounts for 154 of them
NAGPUR: The spike of Covid cases that has started early June continued even on Saturday with all the 11 districts of Vidarbha region reporting 73 cases in the last 24 hours. The number was 63 a day ago and 34 on Thursday.
The number of under-treatment patients in the region surpassed the 200-mark on Saturday. Now, there are 235 active cases of Covid in Vidarbha. The relief factor is that more than 99% of these patients are recovering in home isolation.
Nagpur district accounts for 154 of total 235 active cases in Vidarbha. Nagpur city alone has 100 patients of Covid.
On Saturday, Nagpur reported 55 cases, with 34 of them from city and 19 from rural Nagpur. Two patients who came from other states tested positive in the city during airport and random testing. Nagpur district conducted 2,447 tests in the last 24 hours, with 1,868 of them in city (NMC) and 579 in rural areas.
The administration has taken the current spike quite seriously and has started random testing at railway station on Saturday. Testing facilities will now be available on Sundays too. As a result, daily test count is bound to increase in the next few days. Following Nagpur, other districts have also increased their daily testing. On Saturday, 5,508 tests were conducted in the Vidarbha region.
With new cases on rise and recoveries are still to pick-up, the number of under-treatment patients is also on the rise. All 11 districts now have active cases. After Nagpur, Washim and Chandrapur have 17 patients each under treatment, followed by 11 each in Buldhana and Akola, 9 in Amravati and six each in Wardha and Gadchiroli.
