Sunday brings tests, cases down in Vidarbha
NAGPUR: With random testing down in majority of districts in Vidarbha on Sunday, the number of Covid patients reported on Monday was 37. For the last three days, this number was more than 50.
Out of Monday’s 37 cases, 27 came from Nagpur district alone. These include 20 from Nagpur city (NMC area) and seven from district (ZP area). Majority of cases from Nagpur district came as a result of random testing and the tests going on at airport and railway stations.
Washim reported four new cases, Amravati 2, while Gondia, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli and Akola reported 1 case each.
Overall, seven patients recovered from the region. These include three from Nagpur, three from Washim and one from Gadchiroli. Despite the visible surge in the new cases, no Covid death has been reported so far in the month of June in Vidarbha.
A total of 3,226 tests were conducted in the region. This number is almost half of the total tests being conducted daily in the past three days. With 37 of them testing positive, the test positivity was just over 1%. The recovery rate is constantly more than 98.3%. New cases are coming but they are recovering faster and the region is expected to see a big jump in recovery count from this weekend, said experts.
In Nagpur, 1,855 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. Out of them, 1,513 were in city, while 342 were conducted in rural. All three patients who recovered on Monday were from Nagpur city. Now, the district has 210 patients under treatment. Out of them, 142 are from Nagpur city and 67 are from Nagpur rural. Only five of them are admitted in the hospital and others are recovering in the home isolation. Vidarbha has 312 patients under treatment and majority of them are in home isolation as no district has reported hospitalization so far.

Wardha: No new case or recovery was reported in district while the caseload and recoveries are constant at 58,129 and 57,162. Eight patients are under treatment. On Monday, 54 test reports were received and none was tested positive.
Chandrapur: The Covid active figure remained constant at 17, following solitary detection and equal number of discharge on Monday. The lone case was detected in Saoli tehsil out of 107 samples tested in district.
Amravati: Two new cases emerged from the 106 samples tested in last 24 hours on Monday, taking the caseload to 1,05,986. With the district reporting no recovery the number of active cases went up to ten.
