SURAT: Bharuch district collector Tushar Sumera, a 2012-batch IAS officer, has been busy attending calls from across the country for the last two days. People, mostly students, are reaching out to Sumera and thanking him for inspiring them to work hard and giving them hope.
Though this is not new for Sumera, this sudden surge in his popularity on social media was due to a post by motivational speaker Shailesh Sagpariya and which was later shared by Awanish Sharan, a 2009 batch IAS officer of Chhattisgarh cadre.

Sharan recently tweeted an image of Sumera’s Class 10 marksheet which showed that Sumera had scored just passing marks 35 in English, 36 in mathematics and 38 in science. “Sagpariya knows me and he has been giving my example to students often to make them understand how with hard work one can overcome their own limitations. This time he asked me to provide an image of my Class 10 marksheet in which I got the lowest marks in two important subjects,” Sumera, a native of Surendranagar told TOI.
Sumera sent his marksheet to Sagpariya which he shared on social media. Later it was shared by Sharan. Sumera has also thanked Sharan, his senior, over the micro-blogging site. Bharuch collector claimed that he learnt English and mathematics himself and cleared the UPSC exam. The Bharuch district administration was recently appreciated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the successful implementation of welfare schemes at function.
