Many cities of MP will receive heavy rain today, IMD warns

Bhopal: The southwest monsoon has hit Madhya Pradesh on Thursday. The monsoon entered from the southern part of the state, which led to heavy rains at many places. The capital Bhopal is also likely to witness the onset of monsoon in the next 2 to 3 days, due  to which good rainfall is expected.  

Dr P K Saha, Senior Expert, Meteorological Centre, Bhopal, said that the southwest monsoon entered from the southern part of the state via Maharashtra. Due to this, rain has occurred at Betul, Chhindwara, Burhanpur, Khandwa and some other places. He said that these places have been covered by the monsoon and now it is moving forward. Although its speed is slow right now, it is expected to reach the capital Bhopal in 2 to 3 days, due to which there is a possibility of good rainfall.  

Dr. Saha, senior scientist, said, rain or thundershowers may occur at many places in the districts of Sagar and Jabalpur divisions of the state. At the same time, the districts of Rewa, Shahdol, Narmadapuram, Gwalior and Chambal divisions are also likely to receive rain at some places. Moderate to heavy rain accompanied by thundershowers is very likely at isolated places in Umaria, Dindori, Katni, Jabalpur, Panna, Damoh, Sagar and Chhatarpur districts of the state. There is a possibility of short-term strong wind at these places. Similarly, in addition to the districts of Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Narmadapuram, Gwalior, Chambal, Rewa divisions, anuppur, Shahdol, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Seoni, Mandla, Balaghat, Tikamgarh and Niwari districts, there may be short-term gusty winds in addition to lightning or fall with thunderstorm.
