Uttar Pradesh Boards: 95% pass rate, Noida tops Class 10 list

Students from the two districts were among the best performers in overall passing-percentage for the UP board exams, the results for which were announced on Saturday. The pass percentage of students in Gautam Budh Nagar for the Class 10 UP Board exam was 95.

NOIDA/GHAZIABAD: Students from the two districts were among the best performers in overall passing-percentage for the UP board exams, the results for which were announced on Saturday. The pass percentage of students in Gautam Budh Nagar for the Class 10 UP Board exam was 95.5%, the highest in the state, followed by Ghaziabad, at 93%.
In Class 12, GB Nagar was ranked in the 11th position, with 86.7% of the students who appeared for the exams clearing them.
At the 10th spot, the students from Ghaziabad performed relatively better, with a passing percentage of 92.1.
“We scored the maximum in passing percentage across the state in Class 10. This is the highest since 2011. The pass percent in 2018 was 75.16% and 81.18% in 2017. I am very happy with the results. We hope the next time we can have an overall state topper from the district,” said Dharamveer Singh, the district inspector of schools (DIOS), GB Nagar.
The district topper for GB Nagar in Class 10 is SRS Inter College-Khera Dharampura student Akshit Sharma, who scored 92.8%. In Ghaziabad, the Class 10 district topper is Vikash of Maharishi Dayanand Vidyapeeth Inter College, having secured 91% marks.
Schools said they were encouraged by the results as well. “We had a 100% pass result with many students scoring above 80% marks,” said Hemlata, principal of the Government Girls Inter College in Hoshiyarpur, GB Nagar.
The district topper for GB Nagar in Class 12 is Deepanshu Tonger, who studied in the SJH Inter College Sainthly and scored 88%. In Ghaziabad, Chitra Chaudhary of MDV Inter College-Govindpuram topped with 90.8% marks. “Our student
Anjali stood second in district at 85% (84.6%) marks in Class 12. We support her education and provide books without any cost because her father died sometime back and her mother is a housewife,” said Hemlata, referring to the student who got GB Nagar’s second highest rank in Class 12.
In Ghaziabad, the second position for the Class 12 exam was held by Kajal Baghel, who scored 88.2% (441/500) and is from the GC Public Inter College. The UP board exams for both classes were held between March 24 and April 12 this year. Around 35,135 students of the 37,520 eligible for the exams appeared for them in GB Nagar.
Out of a total of 48,514 students eligible to give the boards in Ghaziabad, about 45,396 appeared for the papers. “Girls outdid the boys again where out of the total 93.05 pass percent turnout, 97.53% were girls from Class 10 while 88.9% boys cleared the exams this year for Class 10,” said Pradeep Kumar Dwivedi, DIOS Ghaziabad.
