AGRA: A 16-year-old girl from Mathura was stabbed to death in her house on Sunday by her Facebook friend because she refused to continue the "friendship". The girl's mother was also injured by the man when she tried to save her daughter from the attack. The 22-year-old assailant from Muzaffarnagar later stabbed himself with the same knife, police said.
Police added that the victim, daughter of a retired Army personnel, had met Avi Kashyap, a BCA final year student of Shri Ram College, on Facebook about six months ago.
Kashyap got anxious when she recently refused to continue with their friendship following her parents' objection.
Unhappy with their "break up", he left home in Muzaffarnagar at about 8am on Sunday and went to the girl's house in Nagla Bohra on the pretext of presenting a wedding card with a box of sweets, police said. Initial investigation revealed that Kashyap stabbed the girl thrice with a knife, police said. When her mother tried to save her, he attacked her too, and later injured himself.
