Thiruvananthapuram: Road devplopment, Disbursal of compensation begins

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The compensation for 614 landowners who gave up their land for the development of Pettah-Anayara-Oruvathilkotta Road began here on Tuesday.

Surendran said that he was thankful to everyone who took part in the joint effort. “Everybody cooperated with land acquisition without any dissent,” said Surendran.
Land of 614 owners are being acquired from either side for the road development.
As many as 428 landowners who are included in A category will receive Rs 54 lakh.
MLA said that in the coming days, the amount will be transferred from the treasury to the bank account of the landowners when they give their consent note. A panel of advocates, comprising 19 members, has been constituted to scrutinize the land documents of owners who have given up their land for road development.

The district collector had submitted the proposal of district-level fair compensation, rehabilitation and resettlement committee (DLFC) with regard to the acquisition of 164.67 ares of land in Kadakampally village of Thiruvananthapuram for the development of the road.
The state-level empowered committee (SLEC) meeting held on April 23 had approved the land value. For category A, the value was fixed at Rs 53.98 lakh per are, for category B, the value was Rs 50.85 lakh per are and for category C, the value was fixed at Rs 48.31 lakh per are.
The land value fixed by the DLFC was approved by the SLEC.
In April, the government had examined the matter and accorded sanction to the district collector to proceed with the proposal.
The DLFC had conducted negotiations with the landowners and reached a consensus with them regarding the land value and furnished the proposal to the SLEC.
